Emily Beck, third-generation owner of Marlow Auto Group, becomes VADA’s chairwoman at this month’s convention

 

Emily Beck’s legal career put her on the road back to running the northern Virginia dealership her family started decades ago.

Beck, a former partner and vice chair of the dealership practice at the Hudson Cook LLP law firm, becomes our new Board chairwoman when we gather for our annual convention this month. She is the third-generation owner of Marlow Auto Group, the business her grandfather, Guy Marlow, started in 1947 as a Kaiser-Frazer dealership.

Auto Dealerships Working Through Inventory Woes

WINCHESTER — Near-empty car lots are not an uncommon sight these days in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Battling new and used inventory shortages as well as supply chain issues, car dealerships across the region have been learning almost on the fly at how to be innovative at solving what Marlow Auto Group President Emily Marlow Beck refers to as a “transportation problem.”

Car factories across North America, Europe and Asia have been closing at a high rate due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and many other technology companies responsible for semiconductor chips used in new vehicles have been having to shift away from production due to demand in other technology areas.

WINCHESTER — When Emily Marlow Beck joined the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association in 2013, she knew one day she would have an opportunity to serve as its chairwoman.

That time has come for Beck, who served her way through the VADA’s rotational board and took the helm as the organizational chair on July 1. She will serve in the position for a year.

“Emily grew up around the business her whole life,” said Don Hall, VADA president and CEO. “She is a woman full of integrity. She’s less about her — she’s more about the greater good, and I have no doubt she is the right person for the role.”

Dealership: Pandemic Has More Car Shoppers Buying Online

 

By MATT WELCH The Winchester Star  — More and more consumers are turning to online means to obtain items during the coronavirus outbreak, and at least one area car dealership is seeing an uptick in its online presence as a result.

Marlow Automotive Group, which has locations in Winchester, Front Royal and Luray, sees that as a positive.
