By Andrew Freeman, Winchester, VA, March 2023: On Thursday, March 30, 2023, was named Large Business of the Year at the Great Good Awards. The Top of Virginia Regional Chamber awarded Tri-State Nissan for dedicating an entire month to serving their community with the 2022 Large Business of the Year Greater Good award. At the awards ceremony, the President of the Marlow Motor Company, Emily Marlow Beck, proudly received the prestigious award established 43 years since 1980. Over the decades, the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber has bestowed this award to several local and respected companies, like Blue Ridge Hospice, Winchester City Public Schools, and H.N. Funkhouser & Co. Now, Tri-State Nissan has joined the esteemed ranks. Beck was incredibly grateful to Marketing Director Brian Nieves and numerous managers and employees for being extremely dedicated to strengthening and supporting the community despite the tumultuous pandemic and the dealership’s alarming low inventory. As the community looks ahead, this recognition stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of businesses in the region to overcome challenges and make a positive impact.
Large Business Of The Year At The Great Good Awards
Tri-State Nissan won the Large Business of the Year at The Great Good Awards by launching and completing its 75 Acts of Kindness effort in July 2022. The Nissan dealership committed to book, food, and diaper drives for Winchester Literacy Volunteers of America, Winchester Rescue Mission, and The Red Wagon Ministry; landscaped for NW Works; brought food and care packages to first responders and Valley Health Urgent Care workers; harvested vegetables for the C-CAP “Freedge” from the gardens at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley; served ice-cream at the Kids Club of Northern Shenandoah Valley; donated blood to the American Red Cross; including countless more incredible acts of servitude.
Beck thanked the other attending businesses at the awards ceremony for supporting their 75 Acts of Kindness campaign: “What you guys meant to us during this time was just reinforcement that there is a place for kindness, a place for servanthood, and a place for humility. There’s a place for all those things in all businesses, especially the car business. You guys reinforced those values in our team, and it solidified that we are doing something right. We want everyone to feel really good about the community that we are building together.”
Tri-State Nissan is honored and humbled to receive this distinguished award. Seventy-five acts of kindness may seem daunting, but the dealership achieved this goal because of its devotion to its community. Tri-State Nissan values their customers above all things (including their cars, which is saying a lot!). Despite difficult situations, they are delighted to exemplify their kindness, loyalty, courage, and dedication to accomplishing their goals. The “Greater Good Awards” aims to celebrate outstanding individuals and businesses for their contributions to our region’s quality of life and economic stability through genuine community commitment, dedication to excellence, and ethical and creative business practices. The nominees’ criteria are community involvement, ethics and character, leadership, creativity, economic impact, and growth. All nominees should be the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber members and have lived and/or worked in Clarke County, Frederick County, and/or Winchester City for the past three years. Award winners are chosen by an impartial committee of past Chamber board chairs based on the criteria indicated.
