September 20th, 2024 | Winchester, Virginia: At Marlow Auto Group, community is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why when the opportunity to participate in the United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley’s annual Day of Caring came around again, we knew we had to get involved. This incredible event, which draws together nearly 900 volunteers across the region, is all about giving back and making a meaningful difference in our local communities. And this year, our team didn’t just participate—we showed up in full force, eager to roll up our sleeves and make an impact. The United Way NSV’s theme for this year’s Day of Caring was “Spark Change, Together We Can Because Together We Have,” and it’s hard to imagine a more fitting message
A Day Dedicated to Care
The United Way Day of Caring is the largest volunteer event in the Shenandoah Valley, and for good reason. It mobilizes volunteers from all walks of life to tackle service projects for nonprofit organizations that serve our region’s most vulnerable populations. From landscaping and beautification projects to assembling care packages for families in need, the event connects businesses, local leaders, and community members in a shared mission to spark positive change. Marlow Auto Group joins United Way Day of Caring and took part in several projects across different locations, each one geared toward supporting local nonprofits and their essential work. From gathering baby supplies to beautifying community spaces, our team was honored to contribute to this powerful day of service.
The day began with a high-energy kickoff event, where volunteers gathered to celebrate the spirit of giving and community. Marlow Auto Group had a display at the event, and we’re incredibly thankful to the United Way for collecting baby shower items for the Healthy Families Northern Shenandoah Valley program. The outpouring of generosity allowed us to deliver a large collection of much-needed supplies for families, ensuring that infants and their caregivers have essential items to support their early days together. This was just the beginning of what turned out to be an inspiring day full of collaboration and community spirit.
Building Baby Care Packages: Supporting Healthy Families NSV
One of the highlights of our Day of Caring was working with Healthy Families Northern Shenandoah Valley to assemble baby care packages. Huge thanks to Diane, Sara, Robin, and Bob—your hard work and dedication truly made a difference! These care packages were filled with essentials for new parents and babies, offering support to families in need during their most vulnerable moments. Our team was proud to contribute to this meaningful project by putting together the packages, knowing they would soon make a positive impact in the community.
Warren Coalition: Bringing Magic to the Community
Our Marlow Auto Group volunteers also had the privilege of teaming up with the Warren Coalition in Front Royal to help prepare for their upcoming Celebrate Kids Day event. Duane and Sam, along with the rest of the team, jumped right in to lend a hand in organizing and coordinating various tasks to ensure the event would be a success. Whether it was assembling materials or providing logistical support, everyone played a key role in making this important community initiative come together. Our collaboration with the Warren Coalition reflects our commitment to strengthening the fabric of our local communities. We believe that change happens when we work together, and our efforts here were a testament to that belief.
Garden Cleanup: Nurturing Community Space
Perhaps one of the most visually impactful projects of the day was the garden cleanup at CHEO (Citizens Helping Each Other) Front Royal’s Community Garden. Volunteers from Marlow Motor Company, Tri-State Nissan, and Marlow Ford came together with tools in hand to give the garden a much-needed fall cleanup. Wendy, Harrison, Chris, Ben, Ralph, Greg, and Emily—your energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and the results were stunning! This vital community garden plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity in Warren County, where more than 5,000 people are food insecure. Founded by concerned citizens, the CHEO Gardens provide fresh, locally grown produce to area food banks, ensuring that those in need have access to healthy meals. The work our team did ensures that the garden remains a peaceful and productive environment, contributing to both relaxation and nourishment for the entire community.
